Mystery Bird for social engagement

by AutumnCare | Feb 3, 2021 | AutumnCare News | 0 comments

In December we were able to partake in a brilliant initiative to combat social isolation and lack of engagement opportunities for residents in lockdown.

Mystery Bird was born in the wake of strict social distancing measures and the cancellation of our beloved live events.

The initiative was led by arts organisation Quays Culture and involved a mobile art installation visiting care homes across Salford.

These residents had been in isolation due to COVID-19 restrictions since March.

Not only have residents been unable to receive visits from friends and family, but their opportunities for organised activities have been severely limited.

The visit by this installation provided residents with some much needed entertainment and opportunities for engagement.

Further engagement opportunities

Keeping in theme, Quays Culture also distributed the materials required to build bird feeders to all care homes that were visited in the Salford area.

This will allow the residents to participate in some crafts and continue to enjoy the (real) birds visiting the feeders in their gardens for months to come.

For further information visit the Mystery Bird website and our blog.
