Knights Care boost CQC results

An impressive review of care planning and care record processes at Drovers Call left staff pleased with their decision to upgrade the homes care management system.

The recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission took place just before Christmas with the results being published early January 2017.

Inspectors were pleased to find “care records were personalised” and that the care management system facilitated the recording of care in “real time giving a more accurate care record.”

Adam Knights, Owner and Managing Director of Knights Care, was one of the key staff involved in implementing the new system.
“Having a system [AutumnCare] that supports effective documentation and record keeping has helped us to improve our rating from the CQC,” he stated in response to the recent inspection results.

The rating of Drovers Call from the CQC has been bolstered from Requires Improvement to Good. The new system allowed staff to demonstrate aspects of their processes had improved significantly, with more accurate and thorough documentation.

The CQC reported that “care records were personalised and included detail so that staff could understand what things were important to people such as information about people’s past life experiences and their preferences.”

Management staff have also been afforded better oversight of operations with a system that promotes visibility and instant access to vital information.

Furthermore, the CQC commented that “staff we spoke with told us they liked the new system and that it was less time consuming giving them more time to spend with people”.

Adam is thrilled with how quickly staff have acclimated to using AutumnCare, stating ”implementation and transition from our previous system went well too – the full team is very positive and adapted well to AutumnCare.”

Drovers Call is one of four care homes under the Knights Care organisational umbrella, providing nursing, residential and dementia care to elderly people.
